Honestly he didn’t like either choices so he decided to pick the best of the worst; a warm bed was better then a cold miserable dungeon right? He hoped he wouldn’t regret this decision.]</p> <p>I’m perfectly fine with the bed…</p> </blockquote> <p>“If you’re worried about something happening…” Jun commented nonchalantly as they walked. He stopping for a moment to pick a flower from a nearby rose bush, and then walked backward for a moment, slowly sniffing the delightful fragrance. “Don’t be.”</p> <p>He then handed the rose to Miwa with a tender smile.</p> <p><img height="480" src="http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1047/1456232731_903d550a25_z.jpg" width="640"/></p> </blockquote> <p>W-who said I was worried, and why would I be worried about something happening in the first place!</p> <p>[Blushing, Miwa took the rose from Jun.]</p> <p>After all, I trust you. </p> </blockquote> <p><em>Trust, huh?</em> <em>No one trusted anyone else around here. Least of all with their lives.</em></p> <p><em>But when it came to Miwa, Jun felt that whatever trust they had built up to this point might actually be genuine. He wanted to hold onto it. This…friendship. He wouldn’t jeopardize it so carelessly. He was growing quite fond of the alchemist.</em></p> <p>[ Jun led the two up to his quarters of the castle, not too far from the garden. His room  was nothing ravishing. Just a bed lined with lavender sheets, a medium-sized window, in which the magnificent moonlight shined through, a desk with a bunch of scattered notes and bottles on top of it, and a wardrobe. Other than that, it was actually quite spacious.</p> <p>Once they were both inside, Jun shut the door and cast a dark magic spell under his breath to ward off any intruders while they slept. It would also prevent Miwa from fleeing if he were thoughtless enough to try doing so.</p> <p><span></span>“I’ll find you a change of clothes,” Jun said suddenly, walking over to his wardrobe. </p></blockquote> <p>Oh thanks. </p><p>[Miwa glanced around Jun’s bedroom. It gave a warm comfortable feeling. That reminded him, when was the last time he had been in his own bedroom? He couldn’t remember; everything just seemed to blend together when he was working endlessly. </p><p>Of course Miwa, having lived under the protection of the Kagero army his whole life wouldn’t know tue true meaning of ‘survival of the fittest’. Truthfully he takes his life too much for granted. The reason he trusts people so easily is because he’s never had any reason not to trust people. If he were to see the actual reality with his own eyes it might change him from who he is now; certainly not in a good way. </p><p>Miwa yawned as Jun searched the wardrobe. It had been a long day. He knew it probably wouldn’t last, but he didn’t mind the close proximity between the two of them. ] </p> <p>“Are you frightened?” he asked curiously as they approached a door being guarded by two bulky-looking werewolves. </p> </blockquote> <p>Yeah, a little bit…</p> <p>[Who wouldn’t be afraid, in an unfamiliar environment with full of people you don’t know. Even the most courageous person would be fearful, in an environment you have no knowledge about, one wrong move and you’re dead..</p> <p>But even with this fear Miwa couldn’t hold back his curiosity of what was behind that door.] </p> </blockquote> <p>[ Jun simply nodded and the werewolves stood aside to let them through the door. After they had stepped outside into the open air, the door behind them shut. They were alone once more, several feet away from an iron gate. And beyond that was… ] </p> <p>Jun paused before opening the gate, smiling genuinely at Miwa. “Welcome to my garden.”</p> </blockquote> <p>Garden…</p> <p>[Miwa can only look at Jun, still not knowing the reason he wanted him here. But what lays beyond the iron gate was the answer.]</p> </blockquote> <p>[ Jun leads the two of them as usual as they make their way into his most beloved place. It’s breath-taking this time of night. And the moons above shine brightly, flooding the entire area in an alluring glow. He honestly hoped that Miwa, having a scientific mind like his own; something that was rare in the dark zone; might be able to appreciate all the work Jun had put into making this botanical garden. It was his proof that even a place as dismal as the dark zone can have its own charm.</p> <p>He stopped in front of a fountain in the center of it all. ] </p> <p><span> </span>“Ah,” Jun looked as if he’d just remembered something as he turned around to face Miwa. “I think you’ve proven yourself. I see no reason not to unchain you now.”</p> <p>[ And so, unchain he does~ ] </p> </blockquote> <p>[Miwa was absolutely stunned by the botanical garden. He had never seen anything like it. Sure, the dragon empire had stunning gardens, but none of it could compare to this. All this made the scientific part of his mind click. All he wanted to do was observe and collect data on this, there were so many things he still didn’t know. </p> <p>He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he almost didn’t notice Jun unchain him.]</p> <p>Huh, oh thanks. Jun, this is amazing! I can’t believe I’ve never read or heard anything about this place.</p> </blockquote> <p>“That isn’t too surprising…” Jun says, pleased with Miwa’s reaction. “So far I’ve managed to keep this place hidden from any outsiders. This place is the lifeblood of the dark zone. The herbs that grow here are more potent than any other and rival even those of the Zoo nation. And the poisons my fellow scientists and I create from some of them to tip our weapons fetch a handsome price on the black market.”</p> <p>[Jun takes a seat beside the fountain, watching the reflections of many moons above ripple as the wind picks up a bit. ]</p> <p>“I suppose I’m taking a chance by showing all of this to <em>you</em>, kagero alchemist,” he added, looking back up at Miwa. “I hope I was right to trust you with this. Now that you know my secrets, there’s <em>something</em> I would like you to do for me.”</p> </blockquote> <p>[<em>Fellow scientists? If he’s already got scientists then what does he need me here for…</em></p> <p>It made Miwa wonder, of course he could try asking Jun again but he didn’t want to interrupt him as he spoke. Instead he decided to wait for Jun to tell him.]</p> <p>Of course you can trust me. I’ll do <em>anything</em> for you to prove it!</p> </blockquote> <p><em>Anything?</em></p> <p> [ Jun got to his feet and smirked as an idea hit him. He was having a lot of fun with his prisoner. Why stop now? They could get down to business later since it was getting late and there was no foreseeable threat from the dragon empire anytime soon. ] </p> <p>“You seem eager to please me.” Jun teased. “I like that.”</p> <p>[ He winked and brushed one of his hands softly against Miwa’s face, holding it for a moment. ]</p> <p>“But why don’t we call it a night?” He asked, finally lowering his hand. If you’re going to be working for me tomorrow, you’ll need your rest.”</p> </blockquote> <p>[Miwa blushed as Jun held his face, but he didn’t resist or anything. It was not that he hated it, it was just that he wasn’t used to anything like this. After all, he’d spent most of his life studying and little time actually getting along socially with people.</p> <p>He nodded at Jun’s words]</p> <p>Okay. I don have to sleep in the dungeon right?</p> </blockquote> <p>&#8220;Of course not,&#8221; Jun chuckled. &#8220;You can sleep with <em>me</em>.&#8221;</p> <p>[ He started walking back toward the castle, but then stopped to make sure Miwa was following behind him. ] </p> </blockquote> <p>[&#8220;You can sleep with me.&#8221; </p><p>Those words made Miwa&#8217;s face heat up again. Did Jun have to tease him like that? Not that he hated it but no one had ever acted this way towards him before. This was going to take some getting used to. </p><p>He started to follow Jun back to the castle.] </p><p>You don&#8217;t mean in the same bed right? He flinched for a second not knowing what to do as he listened to his own heartbeat rise. </p> <p><em>What is the feeli- wait what?! </em></p> <p><em>Delicate flower, what is with this guy?</em></p> <p>Miwa tried to break free from Jun’s grip, but his strength was too much for him.]</p> <p>Ummm Jun…I would appreciate it if you could let go of me.  </p> </blockquote> <p>[ Seeing the boy so flustered amused Jun. He laughed at the blushing blonde a bit before letting go of him and backing up. ]</p> <p>“I’ll still need some reassurance until you prove yourself to be trustworthy,” he commented, detaching a smaller chain from a device wrapped around his wrist. Just great. This day can’t get any worse can it. He couldn’t have his special prisoner walking around on an empty stomach. It was in his nature to be <em>somewhat</em> hospitable when it came to potential allies. His group could benefit greatly from someone like Miwa. But he wouldn’t give away his intentions just yet.</p> <p><span> </span>“We’ll get you something to eat for now.” Jun decided. Jun wondered to himself upon seeing Miwa’s cheerful expression as they took their seats in the dining room. A fireplace not too far away and candles lit on the table gave the room a warm, pleasant glow. Completely the opposite of what the dungeon had to offer.]</p> <p><span> </span>“Here you are, sir~” a voluptuous, spunky vampire approached them, carefully placing a plate of food in front of both of the men.</p> <p><span> </span>“I’m sorry, Edel. I won’t be eating,” Jun spoke rather regretfully. </p> <p><span> </span>“Oh?” Edel’s face looked unhappy. “Well…I’ll leave it out for you just in case~” She added before placing two glasses and a pitcher of water on the table. Before she could pour the water, Jun spoke up once more.</p> <p><span> </span>“That will be all, Edel.” He said, still managing to sound appreciative.</p> <p>The vampire placed the pitcher back onto the table and then bowed out of respect before she quietly left the men to themselves.</p> </blockquote> <p>[The atmosphere was suddenly awkward for Miwa. Not that he had never been eating in a fancy place before, but all those times Kai was with him. He watched in silence as Edel placed the food on the table, not knowing quite sure what to say so he just waited until she left.]</p> <p>Hey Jun, what do you do around here for fun?</p> <p>[Miwa was curious of what life was like in the dark zone since he had never been here before. It was just his curiosity taking over again.]</p> </blockquote> <p><em>Fun? </em>Jun contemplated the word and what it meant to him. Honestly, <em>this right here</em> was his idea of fun. But he wasn&#8217;t about to startle the blonde. He glanced up at him, smiling ever so slightly.</p> <p>&#8220;Well&#8230;&#8221; he began to say as he placed his elbows on the table, weaving his fingers together, balancing his chin on the bridge that they formed. &#8220;As a whole, I suppose the dark zone can be a pretty dangerous place. The men around here are a pretty rowdy bunch and they don&#8217;t take kindly to outsiders. But even they get bored eventually when it comes to pillaging and senseless violence, so&#8230;we&#8217;ve come up with ways to..<em>entertain</em> ourselves.&#8221;</p> <p>He paused, to pour them both water. And then fixed his eyes on Miwa&#8217;s.</p> <p><em>Were they blue?</em> The candlelight made them look almost green.</p> <p>He smiled and continued to watch Miwa eat as he spoke. &#8220;About a day&#8217;s journey from here is the pale moon circus. It&#8217;s a popular place for both human and non-human, where everyone can forget we&#8217;re in the middle of a war for a moment.
